Garlic Naan Bread
Restaurant-quality naan can absolutely be made at home. The combination of yogurt and yeast in the dough creates a bread that is both soft and slightly tangy, with beautiful charred bubbles.
Ingredients
- 300g all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 100ml warm milk
- 60ml yogurt
- 2 tablespoons oil
- For garlic butter: 60g melted butter, 3 cloves garlic minced, 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm milk, yogurt, and oil. Knead for 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled.

Divide into 8 balls. Roll each into an oval shape about 5mm thick.

Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat until very hot (or use the highest broiler setting).

Cook naan one at a time: place on the dry hot skillet for 1-2 minutes until bubbles form and bottom is charred in spots. Flip and cook the other side for 1 minute.

Mix melted butter with minced garlic and cilantro. Brush each hot naan generously with the garlic butter.

Serve immediately while warm alongside your favorite curry.
